Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective November 1, 2026
Matchday keeps what it needs on your iPhone, sends nothing about you to us, and lets you delete everything at any time. This policy explains what's kept, where, who can see it and your choices. Matchday is made by Michael Butler in Ontario, Canada, who is responsible for it. Questions: mbutlerdhc6@gmail.com.
What Matchday collects
Nothing reaches us from the app. Matchday has no server, no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It doesn't use your location, contacts or photos, and it doesn't share anything with AI services.
What stays on your iPhone
- What you follow and your settings: teams, players, leagues and tours, alert choices, quiet hours, mutes and theme.
- Your alerts log: the alerts Matchday has shown you. Dismissed alerts are deleted after 14 days.
- Saved feeds: recent schedules, scores and standings, so the app opens quickly and works on a weak connection.
- Your agreement record: which version of these documents you accepted, and when, with the app version.
If you're signed in to iCloud, what you follow, your settings and mutes are also kept in your own private iCloud database, so they appear on your other devices. That data belongs to your Apple account. We can't see it.
Where scores come from
Matchday downloads schedules, scores, standings, team logos and player photos directly from public sports services: ESPN, the NHL, MLB and the PSA squash tour. These requests go straight from your iPhone to those services, like visiting their websites. They don't include anything about you, but those services can see your IP address, as with any web request, and handle it under their own privacy policies.
Notifications, calendar and Live Activities
- Alerts are created on your iPhone by the app. Matchday asks for notification permission only after explaining what it sends, and works fully without it.
- Add to Calendar opens Apple's own event editor. Matchday can add the events you confirm but can't read your calendar.
- Live Activities show a game's score on your Lock Screen. They're created on your iPhone.
Feedback and TestFlight
- If you email feedback, we receive your email address and what you write. The feedback email Matchday prepares includes the app version, iOS version and iPhone model, and which sports feeds failed recently, so we can fix problems. You can read and edit it before sending. We keep feedback for up to 12 months and use it only to improve Matchday.
- If you test Matchday through TestFlight, Apple shares some information with us under Apple's own terms: the name and email you were invited with (or that you joined by public link), when you installed, how many sessions you had, crash reports, and any feedback or screenshots you send in TestFlight. Apple's privacy policy covers this.
How long it's kept
Everything on your iPhone and in your iCloud stays until you delete it. Feedback emails are kept for up to 12 months.
Your choices
- See it: everything Matchday keeps is visible in the app, under Following, Alerts and Profile.
- Export it: Profile › Your data › Export my data gives you a copy as a file.
- Delete it: Profile › Your data › Delete my profile erases everything Matchday keeps on this iPhone and in your iCloud, then starts the app afresh. Deleting the app also removes everything on this iPhone.
- Withdraw consent: delete your profile. Turn notifications off at any time in the Settings app.
To ask a question, make a request or complain, email mbutlerdhc6@gmail.com. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Matchday isn't directed at children and doesn't collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted at the same address with a new date, and Matchday asks you to accept important changes before you carry on.
